“Without which not”, missing an indispensable element, that should be an absolute prerequisite, something deemed essential, without which we cannot bear living, making life in general loose some specific value and turn into an abstract mess of desperation. When I joined WordPress, I was happy to see a group of dedicated writers here, but there are also many people here that don’t write very well. Maybe they had poor teaching, or perhaps English is a new language for them. I take great pride in my writing and maybe some people think that I am some kind of a pompous jerk for feeling that way, but coherence is an essential quality for readability. My paragraphs and sentences need to be clearly linked to each other, so that my logic will flow from point to point.
When I complete a post that is written properly, I’m happy to share it with others, because I feel that I have created or produced something worthwhile and that is an accomplishment for me and then I can say the words, “I am a writer”, and this allows me to continue to write. I write every day as I am compelled to write and I try to be versatile tackling many topics and I admit that some of the stuff that I write may not be all that ingenious. I prepare each post; I try to abide by the rules and I hope to avoid trouble that way. I don’t get paid for any of my posts and soon after they are finished, they are easily forgotten. I see so many bloggers here that write about nothing, yet they have many more followers and they get a lot more views and likes than I receive. I know that I am putting much more effort into my writing than they are into their rapid posts and maybe my posts are unpopular because of my quirky opinions, or my rapscallion attitude. I think of myself as being last but not least. where I don’t have a lot of fans, but I think that my writing is important and my writing is not dependent on how many readers show up to view my posts.
Written for Sheryl’s Daily Word Prompts – Rapid, for the Daily Spur prompt – Dependent, for FOWC with Fandango – Ingenious, for December Monthly Writing Prompts – Last but not least, for Ragtag Community – Rapscallion, for Di’s Three Things Challenge #442 prompt words – Prepare, Trouble and Rules and for Word of the Day Challenge Prompt – Desperation.
Ah, a trip down memory lane with the song Jim. Good use of all the prompts.

Thank you Di and I have not done a multi prompt post since last August and I wanted to see if I still had the ability to string a bunch of different prompts into a post.

You did a good job Jim. The only combi I do is my Take Seven for my own 3TC prompts for the week.

Wow, it’s been a long time since you last did a multi-word prompt, Jim. You used to be a master at that. Will this be the beginning of a return to that?
By the way, I think most of us who read your blog regularly appreciate your writing acumen, despite the fact that you always put two spaces after a period at the end of your sentences. 😏

I know tat I am a weirdo, but I just don’t seem to care. I have no idea what the future will bring.

If I try to put in two spaces after a sentence, they are usually condensed down to one space by default. Yet, there are sometimes two spaces accidentally where they don’t belong in the middle of a sentence. I was taught to use two spaces in typing, after a sentence. I finally gave up on it, when typing online, between sentences. But I still try to do it in another case for which the doubled space was the instruction: after a colon (we will see if it sticks now). On the other hand, I have been decreasing my punctuation and using less of it compared to what we were taught to do in school. It seems to me we want to use fewer characters. Plus, I’m aiming for punctuation to be more of a help for clarity and less clutter — instead of an effort to follow strict rules or a conglomeration of multiple rules that often seem awkward together. But I also don’t proofread as much as I would before turning in a paper.

I write all of my posts in Microsoft Word and I make sure that there are two spaces after every sentence and then I paste them into WordPress and if some of my spaces get condenced down to one space, then I add that extra space in.

Well done Jim, and I totally agree with two spaces after a period!

I’m a one-spacer, but I agree that people should take pride in their writing, and if that means spellchecking, grammar checking, etc., then so be it!
