Billy Goat

I liked the picture, so I went looking for a song to go along with it and I found ‘Billy Goat Run’ by an artist that I never heard of before.  It is the last song on the second side of her album Meet Anna Black, which was released in 1968.  I couldn’t find much information on Anna Black, but I did read that her real name is Barbra Anne McMillan and she wrote under the name of A. Blakke.  Meet Anna Black was her first album, it contains 12 songs, and 9 of them were written by her.  It is out of print and it was never issued on CD.  According to the liner notes on this album, she was born in Oklahoma City, and she is part Chickasaw Indian.  James Burton plays on ‘Thinkin’ About My Man’ and supposedly Ginger Baker plays on a song, but I was not able to find out which one that was.  Burton also played on Anna Black’s second album that was released in 1969 Thinking About My Man.  Her latest album is titled The House That BAM Built and it was released on October 27, 2010.

I liked this song so much, that I spent hours searching for information on Anna Black, unfortunately I was unsuccessful.  I listened to this song over and over again to get the lyrics, because they were not listed anywhere.  I may have some of them wrong, but this is the way I heard them.  I hope that you enjoy this song as much as I do and if you know anything about Anna Black, then please write back to me.
