We don’t need no stinking badges and like the Five Flights Up song says, you can ‘Do What You Wanna Do’. Most people willingly follow the rules, but Trump is a petulant child who refuses to follow the rules and because he liked to make up his own rules and declined to wear a mask, now he has contracted the coronavirus and a mega dose of hydroxychloroquine is not going to help him recover. Songs tend to follow formulas, and music is often governed by a set of concrete rules, with notes being structured, and melodies are always played after the chords, as chords are played on beat 1 and 2 and the melody comes in on beat 3 and 4.
Last week we had Children of the Same Parent, and most of the participants seemed to understand that they were supposed to find a song that contained one of the prompt words either Brother/Sibling/Sister in the title or the lyrics of the song. This week we have something totally different, as it is User Choice today and you can go your own way, or do your own thing. This might be a lot of fun and if you have a song that you like, but it never seemed to fit with any of the previous prompts, then your time has come today. Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two. Share your music with others and post a video, try do some research and let everyone know something about the song that you post. Tell everyone why you like the song, whether it was a hit, or what you think the song is about. Show the lyrics, let’s all listen to our favorite songs and explore some new music. Go with a song that that you like, then write your post and create a pingback, or you can just place your link in the comments section.
No Rules Today
I am writing about the song ‘Badge’ by Cream today, even though we don’t need no stinking badges. Next week I will be writing about the Grateful Dead song ‘Easy Wind’. The upcoming prompts will be:
October 11, 2020 – Hold/Pause/Stop/Wait
October 18, 2020 – No/Yes
October 25, 2020 – Ghost/Pumpkin/Trick/Treat/Witch
November 1, 2020 – Smart/Stupid
Thanks for cutting us loose this week Jim 🙂 Here’s my choice

Harrison wrote While My Guitar Gently Weeps for Clapton, but they wrote this song together, so it is very special,

Your comments were closed, so I will write here. I came across Rod McKuen when I wrote about a song that Nina Simone sang ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’. The song ‘Jean’ was also written by the poet Rod McKuen

Sheree I apologize for being harsh with you last week, but you went with the Gibbs Brothers and somebody else went with the Carpenters and I felt like if I didn’t say something then I was going to get the Doobie Brothers next or the Partridge Family. I hope that you can understand.

I loved this track , maybe not the very upbeat end so much but the passion and emotion in her performance is phenomenal. Streisand at her best IMO

I’m playing safe this week. I like moves and I like the track anyway.
Everybody’s startin’ to pick on you.
Just can’t let them tell you what to do.
You’ve only got one life,
So live it cool.
In this world of ?
You can’t be a fool.
Don’t let nobody tell ya what to do.
You gotta be your judge and jury too.
Don’t let nobody tell ya what to do.
You gotta be your judge and jury too.
All right
Gotta do your thing
And let it all hang out.
Gotta really show them
What you’re all about.
Move on up,
Don’t look around.
People always try to put you down, down
Don’t let nobody tell ya what to do.
You gotta be your judge and jury too.
Don’t let nobody tell ya what to do.
You gotta be your judge and jury too.
?
?
Yeah, yeah.
Do what you wanna do
Oh yeah,
Judge and the jury too
I’m gonna do
I’m gonna do
Do what you wanna do
I’m gonna do, yeah
Judge and the jury too
I’m gonna do, yeah
Do what you wanna do
Judge and the jury too
I’m gonna do, yeah
Judge and the jury too
