I will be writing about rock groups this year and although some of the letters are hard to work with, I have figured out what all of my posts will be written about this April. Rock and Roll music is extremely diverse and it is hard to classify some songs as fitting into this category, but I figure if a group has an electric guitar, and an electric bass, some drums, and one or more singers, that makes a good start. Rock music also has many sub genres like punk rock, garage rock, swamp rock, pop rock, grunge rock and Christian rock to mention a few, but there should be some kind of a distinction between it and the blues or folk music. This will be my third year participating in this challenge and it looks like it is in its eleventh year.

Love these bands! I’m still working on my game list. Wrote my A post and scheduled it for April 1, so I feel productive 🙂

I can remember the small advert in our local newspaper with the words ‘Strobe’ with guitars and drums, appearing at the ***** social club.
This was in 1977 not the early 50s 🙂
Strobe was the band I was in briefly playing bass.

I just read that Strobe formed 1990 in Hertfordshire/UK and can be counted as one the best British space rock outfits ever, but I guess that is a different group.

Yes, definitely a different group. We disbanded in 1982 but did play a version of Hawkwind’s Silver Machine!
