Emergency Number

In 1968, the United States got a universal phone number for all Americans to call if they needed help from the police or fire department.  That new universal emergency phone number became 9-1-1 and it was proposed by AT&T and is currently used in North America.  The number 1-1-2 is standard across the EU and in many other countries worldwide.  Today is the 18th anniversary date of what Americans call 9/11, but for almost every country in the world that uses the D/M/Y format, today is 11/9.  On November 9, 1961, Brian Epstein met John Lennon and became known as the fifth Beatle and their manager.
