The kids were having a great time at the playground until… blood started squirting out of Jimmy’s head. Let me back up here a bit to describe how this situation took place. Jimmy aged 6 lived in an apartment with his older sister Karen aged 7 and his younger brother Jack aged 5. Jimmy was happy to have a younger brother, because Karen stopped dressing him up in her doll clothes and now that was being done to Jack. A younger brother was a blessing, as Jimmy was only a little bit bigger, but that made all the difference in getting his way. Jimmy’s parents bought a house and today was moving day, so there were a lot of things to do. The three kids were only getting in the way, so their parents told them to go to the playground at the corner and that was one of the main reasons that they selected this place. Karen led the way and she introduced everyone to each other.
Jimmy saw a slide and he climbed up the stairs to get to the top. Like the character Jack Dawson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, in the film Titanic, Jimmy was experiencing one of the best moments of his life, so he raised his arms up in the air and shouted, “I’m king of the neighborhood.” This did not go well with Tommy, a boy the same age as Jimmy and when Jimmy reached the bottom of the slide, Tommy had a rock in his hand and he said, “If you are the new king, then somebody should crown you.” Tommy smashed the rock into Jimmy’s head and Jimmy went crying home, spurting blood out of his head. Jimmy’s parents had to stop moving furniture into the house and drive him to the emergency room, where Jimmy got 8 stitches in his head. Jimmy’s parents had hoped their first day in the new neighborhood would have gone a little better than it turned out.

That blood squirting out of Jimmy’s head sure ruined all of the fun.

Poor Jimmy! I hope he’ll be able to hold his own against the bullies.

Being crowned made Jimmy the new king and that was all he wanted.

There is always one kid in the neighborhood who is a bully, but Tommy needs to be contained before he grows up to be the mob’s enforcer. Good take on the prompt, Jim.

Thanks, Fandango and this was an easy one for me to write, as I was the Jimmy in the story.

I’m glad you were okay. Do you know what became of Tommy?

I have a hard head and I couldn’t remember the boy’s name, so I called him Tommy in the story. My family moved around a lot, so there are a lot of blanks in my childhood.
