Did you ever feel like why should I even bother to write anything, because there is a good chance that somebody else has already written it?

Your writing is pretty unique Jim, so I doubt you have that ☺️👍

Jim, this is how I feel everytime I think about writing a book. I mean ideas have to come from somewhere!

I am sure that some materialize from thin air, but mostly somebody has said it before.

Yes! My biggest concern in blogging is that I have written about the same topic before and forgot.

I am coming up on my 3,000 post and I can see exactly what you are saying.

Was gonna say that I myself have probably written the next thing I want to say… but that’s okay because if I don’t remember writing it, no one will remember reading it! 😂

That is very deep Paula, but very poignant also.

I don’t think I’ve ever written anything original that hasn’t already been said by someone else at some time before many times.

I think that parts of what I have written were original, but almost everything that I have ever written was influenced by others.

There’s probably not a new idea under the sun that hasn’t been written about. The thing is, is that each individual writer brings their own perspective and voice to the subject, which makes it unique from all the others. So write what you want and how you want and someone will enjoy reading it. 🙂

There is some things that are new under the sun, but most are repeats from something else. When I invented the Obama pajama, I am pretty sure that was a new idea.

Oh yes. All the time. And whatever opinion I express or what spin I put on it, I’m sure someone else has done it and probably better than I can. It just takes a bit of Googling.
But… A lot of people haven’t read that other author’s masterpiece. And won’t ever. So I get to present it my own way and claim my little share of the glory for having done so.

That is good and as long as you are content with what you are writing, nothing else should matter.

Yep…how do I write about this song that has been blogged about before over and over.

I think that we all face this dilemma.

And when it comes to poetry, this could destroy your inspiration.
