Di of Pensitivity101 suggested the Love Is In Da Blog prompt for today which is a love song that is specific to you and your spouse (or significant other, may it be human or in any other form). I am going with the song ‘Make You Feel My Love’ which was written by Bob Dylan for his 1997 thirteenth studio album Time Out of Mind. This song is new to me, so I can’t say that it is specific for me and a significant other, but I would like to hope that one day I will find somebody who can feel my love. Billy Joel included a version of this song on his Greatest Hits Volume III album and Adele covered this song on her 2008 debut album, 19. Garth Brooks cut a mellow country rendition for the soundtrack of the Sandra Bullock romantic drama Hope Floats. The sheer number of covers (which includes more than 450 artists) prompted Rolling Stone to suggest that the song may one day qualify as a true American standard.
This song isn’t one of Dylan’s best-known tracks and it is a fairly unadorned ballad, but in this song, he pledges unconditional devotion. In the song, a guy offers comfort to this girl that he has fallen for, saying that he will embrace and hold onto her. She has not made up her mind about him yet, even though he has. He is willing to go hungry, get bruises and go crawling down the avenue for her. He will face storms, raging seas and go out on the highway of regret to win her love. He hopes that she will change her mind about him, so he can make her dreams come true. He says that he will go to the ends of the Earth for her.
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I will never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
No, there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love
To make you feel my love
Written for Bee’s Love Is In Da Blog 2023 Day 4 where today’s prompt comes from Di of Pensitivity101 where she wants us to find a love song specific to you and your spouse (or significant other, may it be human or in any other form).
Good post and a wonderful song.

Dylan had a lot of songs that other people covered which did really well on the charts.

Billy Joel’s first Greatest Hits was the first album I ever bought but I didn’t realise there was a third. Also, never heard the song in any of it’s versions. Love it though 💕

I am a big fan of Dylan, but this song was new to me, and I thought it had a nice story.

I don’t know many Dylan Songs. I think Joan Baez dated him and sang a couple of his Songs so I would probably know those. Isn’t it great to discover new Songs? I am loving it 🤗

Interesting so many have covered this song, but I’ve never heard it from anyone. A little slow for me, but nice lyrics with great meaning to them.

You are right, Barbara that it is a little bit slow, but ballads can be like that sometimes.

It’s a lovely song Jim and I only knew of Adele’s version until a little while ago.
