I thought that I would start up a new challenge here on WordPress and I know that we already have a lot of challenges here, but I thought that Wednesdays could use another prompt. I am calling this Wednesday Thoughts and it can be used to share what you think about the title “Keep the Mother Rolling” of this post, which will change every week. Every Wednesday I will come up with a new title and you can respond in the comments section below, or you could write your own post and create a pingback to my Wednesday Thoughts challenge post. We have One-Liner Wednesday and Fandango’s Provocative Question on Wednesdays, along with all the other daily prompts, so maybe this will go nowhere. There are no rules, but hopefully your response should be associated with the prompt in some matter or another. As Paula says, “You do you”, so make it as long or as short as you like. I hope that somebody finds my new challenge interesting, but I am not sure how this is going to work out, however if enough people respond, then I will keep the mother rolling.

Keep the mother rolling? What does it mean? Perhaps you can explain

It is a phrase that I heard in a song and the whole purpose is for you to interpret what you think it means. I thought this would be fun, but maybe this new prompt will never get off the ground.

I’ve never heard it before, perhaps it’s a cultural thing.

It is a lyric written by Robert Hunter and basically nobody knows for sure what it means. The line is “Asking you nice now, keep the mother rolling, one more time”.

Oh, now a get it. It’s an obscure phrase which you want us to elaborate on. I think it was perhaps too tough.

All I can think of is the expression, “keep the ball rolling,” which means to make sure that something stays in motion or moves forward or makes progress. And then I thought it was maybe a typo and it was supposed to be “keep the motor running,” but, no, you meant “mother rolling.” And so, my friend, I’m stumped.

It is an odd expression, and its meaning is up to you. Thanks for providing your response in the comment section.

I’m stumped too, but I do like the idea of a free form prompt without a million rules!

I will write a response on Saturday for this prompt, but I am certain that mine will be different from every other response.

A man brings his dog into the vet and says, “Could you please cut my dog’s tail off?”
The vet examines the tail and says, “There is nothing wrong. Why would you want this done?”
The man replies, “My mother-in-law is coming to visit. I don’t want anything in the house to make her think that she is welcome.” 🙂

Mother-in-law jokes are the best.

This is funny, but rather than drastic surgery, I’d take the dog permanently for a walk until she left!!

Here’s my contribution: https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.wordpress.com/2022/05/26/keep-that-mother-rolling-a-day-behind/
Something you might not know is that WordPress in it’s wisdom *rude snicker* has decreed for some reason that youi posts show up 24 hours (roughtly) after you’ve posted them. I think this is a fun idea and hope you continue to host.

My WordPress seems to keep up to date for me getting posts in my Reader, but I have some other problems, that they make me deal with. Thanks for your participation, Melanie, as your post was very interesting.
