Are My Dogs Barking

Your feet are crucial to your physical health, so you should always give them the attention that they need.  Shoes that fit well can protect you, if you wear them.  People look for shoes that are comfortable and they also appreciate ones that are stylish, having an expensive look, yet are totally affordable.  Don’t forget to wear socks, as they will absorb moisture and prevent blisters.  Red shoes are considered to be the emblem of a wild, dangerous and unruly women.  They also represent their enduring power as a woman, which is conventionally seen as being worn for a man’s pleasure.  When a lady wears a pair of red shoes or boots, she is making a statement shouting out loud that she is powerful enough to conquer the whole world.  Dorothy tapped her red shoes three times to get back home.  In the Hans Christian Andersen story Karen had red shoes which had power over her legs and made her dance.  She asked the executioner to cut her feet off which were stuck inside of her red shoes.  The shoes danced away, not a happy ending in my opinion.

Last week we had Better Planning where the theme was songs that mention Suit, Pants, Dress, Shirt suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II.  This week the theme is songs that mention Socks, Shoes, Boots, Feet suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II.  Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, and even better, read as many of them as you are able to as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.  Share your music with others and post a video, try do some research and let everyone know something about the song that you post.  Tell everyone why you like the song, whether it was a hit, or what you think the song is about.  Show the lyrics, let’s all listen to our favorite songs and explore some new music.  Try to find a song that fits the theme, then write your post and create a pingback, or you can just place your link in the comments section.

Think of these as being suggestions instead of being rules:
• Try to use the prompt words or at least conform to a general theme, as you see it.  If the song you select does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• It would be good if you could post the lyrics to the song of your choice, as this is helpful for the people that want to follow along with the music.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due. It would also be a good idea to give credit to the singer and the band associated with your song.
• Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be, but please try not to include too many videos as that just makes it take longer to look at all of the other posts.
• Link to the YouTube video, or you can pull it into your post, so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

  2. An early short sharp number from Elvis Costello:

Oh, I used to be disgusted
And now I try to be amused
But since their wings have got rusted
You know, the angels wanna wear my red shoes
But when they told me ’bout their side of the bargain
That’s when I knew that I could not refuse
And I won’t get any older, now that angels wanna wear my red shoes

Oh, oh, I was watching while you’re dancing away
Our love got fractured in the echo and sway
How come everybody wants to be your friend?
You know that it still hurts me just to say it

Oh, I know that she’s disgusted (oh, why’s that?)
Because she’s feeling so abused (oh, that’s too bad)
She gets tired of the lust (oh, I’m so sad)
But it’s so hard to refuse
Can you say that I’m too old
When the angels have stolen my red shoes?

Oh, oh I said, “I’m so happy I could die”
She said, “Drop dead, ” then left with another guy
That’s what you get if you go chasing after vengeance
Ever since you got me punctured, this has been my sentence

Oh, I used to be disgusted
But now I try to be amused
But since their wings have got rusted
You know, the angels wanna wear my red shoes
But when they told me ’bout their side of the bargain
That’s when I knew that I could not refuse
And I won’t get any older, now that the angels wanna wear my red shoes

Oh, I won’t get any older, now the angels wanna wear my red shoes

Red shoes, the angels wanna wear my red shoes (repeat x 9)
