In 1984, Bryan Adams released ‘Run To You’ as the lead single from his fourth album, Reckless. The song topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart and it peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to #11 in the UK. This song was written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance in 1983 and they originally offered it to Blue Öyster Cult, because their friend Bruce Fairbairn was producing the band, but they turned it down, and so did .38 Special. The producer, engineer and mixer Bob Clearmountain who worked as on this album felt like it needed one more song and that is when Adams dug this up.
Around 1974, Bryan moved with his mother and brother to Vancouver Canada, which is on the west coast of British Columbia. In 1976, at the age of 16, he saw the Canadian glam rock band Sweeney Todd and he told their producer Martin Shaer that he could sing better than their front man. Nick Guilder left the band and Shaer signed a new lead singer, Clark Perry, but he didn’t work out so Adams got an audition, and he got the job. Sweeny Todd folded and Bryan became friends with Jim Vallance. Vallance joined the Canadian rock band Prism as a song writer in 1977, which was the brainchild of musician-producer Bruce Fairbairn. Vallance worked as the drummer in the band under the pseudonym of Rodney Higgs. Bryan Adams also wrote some songs for Prism.
The subject of this song is infidelity, and the guy is cheating on a girl that really loves him. He prefers being with his mistress much more than his faithful partner, because the sex is better with her. It is kind of a stupid premise for a song, but he sees his significant other as being cold and that makes him wat to run to his lover. He says when the feeling is right that he will stay all night, which makes me think that he is a kept man being supported financially by the girl that he is running away from. He is hanging on to this girl, but it’s so damn easy to make love to the other woman. It is possible that the guy is lying to both women and he is just telling his mistress these things, so she doesn’t feel so bad about being the other woman in the relationship.

A Unique Title For Me 
I was happy in the middle of the 80s to hear a rocker come out…I’m not a huge fan but Adams is likable and was better than most things I heard at the time.

He was a good songwriter, guitar player and singer, but since I have not listened to a lot of his stuff, I don’t have that much of an opinion about him.

As singles go; this has to be my favourite one of his. I’ve never been a big fan though.
