I try to focus on producing good content, which means that I do my research, before writing about anything. I don’t give a flying fig about my readers, because I write for my own enjoyment and they can either read what I write, or not, as I consider ensuring reader satisfaction to be out of my control, so that is the last thing that I am going to worry about. I only have 1,565 Followers and I don’t want or need any more and most of my Views come from my Song Lyric Sunday posts. I do my thing and I get an average of 14 comments per post and an average of 16 likes per post and I realize that this is as popular as I am ever going to be. I enjoy writing and I like being challenged, so I will continue blogging, but my readers have nothing to do with the content that I produce.
Written for Blogging Insights New Format #31 by Dr. Tanya where she asks us what we think about today’s quote by Brian Clark which is “Don’t focus on having a great blog. Focus on producing a blog that’s great for your readers.”
Write on! My blog is for ME, primarily, though it is nice when people comment on a post. Long ago, I tried to blog for an audience and it wasn’t satisfying because no stats were ever high enough…

Thanks Paula. I did a lot of writing that I was getting paid for, and the only thing satisfying about that was the paycheck. Now I am not getting paid, so everything is more satisfying.

Keep on writing what you like Jim. I enjoy reading most of your post. 😀

I listen to suggesions if I like them…or…froma comment conversation sometimes goes into new music, movies, or tv show….but no….likes, views, and ohers don’t bother me…if they did I wouldn’t post the Replacements or the Twilight Zones.
Blogs are for us…no doubt

You have to be able to do your own thing, or else all the fun is gone.

I agree…what I like is that you and everyone that comments gives me ideas and new places to go. If it weren’t for feedback…it wouldn’t be as broad…for me anyway.

I can’t say that I don’t give a flying fig about my readers. I do. Yes, I write for myself and would do so even if I had no readers, but not on a blog. Probably just in an electronic journal maybe using Microsoft Word. But because this is a blog, and I know others are likely to read what I write, I do try to write entertaining, engaging posts so that people will want to read what I write. And I personally think focusing on my readers makes me a better writer.

We are a little bit different, and you are much more successful, so you must be doing it the right way.

You’re doing a good job Jim. Don’t focus on the numbers.
