Entomology

Most kids are fascinated by bugs, but when they grow up to become adults, these same insects repulse them.  Ants, beetles, cockroaches, dragonflies, earwigs, flees, grasshoppers, lice, moths, praying mantids, silkworms, termites and wasps are all part of our world.  If you see a bug, don’t go “Yuck, that is so gross”, instead take out a magnifying glass and look at the minute legs and antennae, marvel at the colors and take delight in the weird designs that nature has provided for all of us.  Not every bug should be played with, bit it’s important to know which bugs are harmless and which ones should be left alone.  There is a distinct gender difference when it comes to a having a fondness for bugs, as young girls are frequently more willing to touch the arthropods than are very young boys, but at around age 7–8, the difference is reversed.

Last week we had saUSAge, with the theme of American music, which is any song played by an American group.  Our theme this week is Bugs, Insects suggested by Amy Braun, ☆ai love music☆ aisasami.  I am certain that everyone will all be able to find songs that feature some type of insect like an ant, a butterfly, a cricket, a glowworm, a gnat, a firefly, a spider, or a stink bug, if you just look around enough.  Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, and even better, read as many of them as you are able to as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.  Share your music with others and post a video, try do some research and let everyone know something about the song that you post.  Tell everyone why you like the song, whether it was a hit, or what you think the song is about.  Show the lyrics, let’s all listen to our favorite songs and explore some new music.  Try to find a song that fits the prompt, then write your post and create a pingback, or you can just place your link in the comments section.

Here are the “rules”:
• Try to use the prompt words or at least conform to a general theme, as you see it.  If the song you select does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.

  • It would be good if you could post the lyrics to the song of your choice, as this is helpful for the people that want to follow along with the music.
    • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due. It would also be a good idea to give credit to the singer and the band associated with your song.
  • Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be, but please try not to include too many videos as that just makes it take longer to look at all of the other posts.
    • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
    • Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
    • Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
    • Feel free to suggest future prompts.
    • Have fun and enjoy the music.

      1. I would have used it IF my brain had been working yesterday. I know I’ve shared “Spiders and Snakes” before on this challenge, but I see that nobody else used either song. Interesting and fun prompt today Jim! But they’re all good!

  1. The title says it all really. This is a live favourite from one of my favourite bands.

    Change everything you are
    And everything you were
    Your number has been called
    Fights and battles have begun
    Revenge will surely come
    Your hard times are ahead

Best, you’ve got to be the best
You’ve got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now (Your time is now)

    Change everything you are
    And everything you were
    Your number has been called
    Fights and battles have begun
    Revenge will surely come
    Your hard times are ahead

Best, you’ve got to be the best
You’ve got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now (Your time is now)

    Don’t let yourself down
    Don’t let yourself go

    Your last chance has arrived
Best, you’ve got to be the best
You’ve got to be the best
You’ve got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now (Your time is now)
