The Way That You Smile

I have a picture which is pinned to my wall.  It is an image of you and of me and we’re laughing and loving it all.  Every time I see your face, it reminds me of the places we used to go.  I picture us getting old sitting by the fireplace with you still wearing your birthday suit, holding on to me for warmth.  You have replaced my pictures of Lily and that is a good thing, since she has been dead since 1929.  The photographs that I have of you are not enough, as you are wild and free and the pictures don’t move like you do.  I can’t get any lovin’ from a photograph, but the photos that I have of you are something that remind me of us, and I hope that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life just wishing that we will one day be together again.  Come back soon honey.
