Tricks Are for Kids

I know that is misspelled, but I never liked that cereal.  If I had a one-trick pony and I were able to teach it two more tricks, would that be a hat trick?  I guess that Linda wants us to talk about Halloween today, because today is Halloween and there is going to be a full moon tonight, which makes it more special.  Since it will be the second full moon in October, it will be a blue moon, which doesn’t happen all that often.  I know that Fandango says that he doesn’t celebrate Halloween any more, since his kids grew up, but he always seems to be dressed for it.

On Halloween in 1959, I went out trick or treating with my sister and my brother and we all got a lot of candy.  We went home and looked at all the candy that we collected and they were both happy, but I tried to talk them into going out to collect more.  They didn’t want to go with me, so I went out by myself.  I didn’t get very far before I bumped into these two older boys who pushed me to the ground and threatened to beat me up if I didn’t give them all of my candy.  They took everything from me and I ran home crying.  My dad made my brother and sister each give me one third of their candy, which made me stop crying.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday where the prompt is trick.

  1. ‘Blue Moon’ is the adopted song that’s sung by Manchester City supporters (City being the English soccer team I’ve supported since 1970).
Sadly the ‘fans’ have to watch it all on TV screens at home now but at least the games were allowed to be played behind closed doors…..at least until Thursday, when the whole country goes into a second full lockdown for a month.
