Getting Something

Are Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook and Yahoo all collecting data about you?  Everybody’s looking for something and it is possible that your personally identifiable information PII is being seen by people that you should not trust.  These tech companies that gather information on you, say that it is done to make things easier for you, like the next time that you want to purchase something, or listen to anything, but many people do not consider the risks involved in letting big companies acquire your personal information, especially when you did not give them specific permission to secure this data.

Clarification on the question of, “Should the prompt words be in the lyrics or the title or neither or both?”  I don’t know why “neither” is even being brought up here, but last week several bloggers went that way with the prompt and even though I liked their music, this is not appropriate.  My response to this question was, “Both would be great, but either is acceptable.  I often use songs where the theme or prompt is only in the lyrics.  Song Lyric Sunday is more about having fun than obeying the rules.”  We had some really great songs last week, but one blogger went with two different songs that shared the same title, another participant went with a song that had two words that were the same in the title, there was a post that used the same song by two different artists and another blogger posted a song that had no relation at all to the prompt, wtf.  No one is stopping you from creating a post about music, and you can always write whatever you want on your blog, but please don’t link songs back here that don’t belong.  I post the theme or prompt a month in advance for everyone to see, so you have plenty of time to come up with an appropriate song, thus there is no excuse for not being able to find a suitable song.  On October 4, 2020 the prompt will be User Choice, go your own way, or do your own thing and I think this will be fun, but till then, please try to follow the prompt.  Enough said, slap my ass and call me Sally, rant over.

Last week we had More of the Same Difference and everyone was asked to find a song that fit with one of the prompts Different/Same and we did have some great music and it was interesting to see how different people interpreted this prompt.  This week we have the accumulation related prompts of Acquire/Collect/Gather/Secure and hopefully this will fit for everyone.  Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.  Share your music with others and post a video, try do some research and let everyone know something about the song that you post.  Show the lyrics, let’s all listen to our favorite songs and explore some new music.  Try to find a song that fits the prompt, then write your post and create a pingback, or you can just place your link in the comments section.

• Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not.  If it does not fit, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
