It is coming and there ain’t nothing that you can do about it. WordPress is ramming the new Block Editor on us and all we can do is bend over and take it.
From WordPress, “On June 1 we’ll be retiring our older WordPress.com editor and transitioning to the more recent (and more powerful) WordPress block editor.”
Written for Linda G. Hill Life in progress One-Liner Wednesday.
Well…good luck with that then!
I’ve not even got used to the old version.

I thought that you didn’t have a website, or that is what Melanie told me.

Okay, I’ve been caught before by your realistic yet fictional writing…is that business of the block editor thing true? ‘Cos my renewal date rolls ’round in June. IF they really are cramming something unwanted down their customer’s throats, well…we’ll have to see. What is wrong with having both? Maybe someone more tech savvy than I can explain why it’s such a problem. If your short piece was fictional, well good one, sir! You fooled me (again) 😆

I don’t think that it is fictional, as I was alerted to this by Li from Tao Talk.

It came from the WP news site or whatever it’s called, so it is happening.

I saw this, and also that the Classic Editor (which I use) isn’t going anywhere. This is the “improved” editor they tried pushing out probably as they were working on the disaster known as Gutenberg. I left a comment expressing my displeasure with Gutenberg, and they deleted it, the bastards…

I read that the WordPress team will keep supporting the Classic Editor plugin until the end of 2021. But, starting in 2022, the new Block Editor will be the only editor officially supported by WordPress.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I heard that it might stay around past that, provided that someone starts supporting it. Don’t look at me…. wonder if you can post to WordPress through Bloglovin?

What’s a plugin and how will we access it?

Fandango also wrote a post about this today and he mentioned that it started with you.

OK thanks for letting me know. I following the WP news blog and so it showed up in my feed.

Then I suppose I will cease blogging on WordPress in 2022.

I’m on the classic editor having been put on the Block somehow and hating it. Guess pensitivity101 is in for a change in a year or so then. damn!!

If most people seem to dislike the Block editor, it makes you wonder why WordPress is pushing it on all of us.

Cheaper to manage on their part maybe.

I think that is their reasoning.

I do not like the block editor. When I started my baseball site it defaulted to that…took me a while but I finally was using it…I didn’t like it and switched back to classic. I’m glad they are keeping it for now.

I have not met one person that likes the Block Editor.

I know…it’s crazy they are pushing it.

Block editor sucks. I may move to a different platform.

If everybody complained and threatened to leave, they would not be forcing this on us.

Let me know if you’re going to organize this rebellion.

I am not an organizer, but I think that Fandango might be.

They should fire the designer that created the Block Editor.

I hope you’re right that they will be keeping the classic editor until 2022. If they don’t m, though, I’m outta here.

I figured that you would be the perfect person to organize this rebellion.

I mistakenly used the block on a couple posts I wrote in draft on my laptop rather than my phone. They looked okay, but when I needed to edit them later, I couldn’t! It was impossible for me to understand how to deal with them. The format was like a slippery Excel table. I ended up deleting the posts.
I can always return to Blogger, but except for this issue I really prefer WP.

It would be horrible if all the friends that I have made here on WordPress ended up leaving over this issue.

Excellent write-up, I have always enjoyed your articles, you’re such a wonderful writer, always on point. This article is loaded to the hilt, I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it and at the same time I was hugely enlightened. I will keep developing my writing skills so that one day I will be at your level. Thanks

That is a nice compliment, but most of my writing comes from research, so if your desire is to write like me, than you need to work on your research skills.
