Cinco de Mayo Again

Last year on My 5th, I titled the SLS prompt post Cinco de Mayo, but it had nothing to do with the holiday as the prompt that week was Hurt/Pain/Agony/Suffer.  An unlikely victory for Mexico over the French forces of Napoleon III happened on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla.  Mexico had trouble paying back war debts to European countries, so France barged into Mexico to try and collect that debt.  This is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, but Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the US.  In the US it is celebrated by eating food like tortillas, beans, chicken, pan-roasted veggies, shredded cheese, grilled pineapple chunks, salsa and assorted garnishes.  You might also want to set up a margarita bar and decorate your party with red, white and green balloons and get a piñata that is filled with small toys or candy, or both.  Cinco de Mayo is a celebration full of food, dance, and music!  Styles of music range from strolling stringed instruments of mariachi bands to the fast, upbeat music that people love for dancing!  I am going to have nachos to celebrate the holiday.  Nacho, nacho, nacho man, I’m gonna be your nacho man.

Last week we had Don’t Drink the Clorox or Inject the Lysol which incorporated a multiple of prompt words being Alone/Confined/Depressed/Isolated/Restless/Solo.  This week we have the Cinco de Mayo related prompt words Burrito/Fajita/Mexican/Tequila.  Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.  Share your music with others and post a video, try do some research and let everyone know something about the song that you post.  Show the lyrics, let’s all listen to our favorite songs and explore some new music.  Try to find a song that fits the prompt, then write your post and create a pingback, or you can just place your link in the comments section.  Everyone, please try to stay safe amid this current pandemic!
