Life During Wartime

Most things that I took as normal, have stopped making sense now.  I am usually an upbeat person although I often remain aloof, however I avoid complaining and the last thing that I want are disappointing disasters that are part of a dystopian future.  I would like to think that we will all eventually recover from this pandemic, if we learn how to navigate with caution.  I am certain that everyone has heard enough advice on what they should be doing to protect themselves through these rough times, but it will be hard for all of us to retain our sangfroid while the grocery store shelves are empty and all of the events that are representative of a normal life are being cancelled.

I have always been a big fan of the elbow bump, mostly because I don’t really enjoy touching other people, but if contact must be made, this is the way to go.  My hope is that we will invent a vaccine that will cure all of the infected people, and also become a remedy for all of the jilted nerves and worried minds that need to be cured.  There is a lot of misinformation out there and myths about the coronavirus and people are so confused at this time, so any thread of information has the chance of going viral.

  1. Great choice of music, I love Talking Heads!! I agree nobody has time for this right now! We are busy people with lots to do, I’m trying to carry on as normal while practicing social distancing…except yesterday when I forgot myself and hugged my hairdresser. Oops! It’s just who I am, I can’t help it! At least I am well, so she has nothing to worry about. 😉

  2. I think we are very fortunate in the UK to have had the virus explained so thoroughly. We have a daily briefing from our prime minister and the Secretary for Health. The top Virologist has also explained each stage to us as and when we’ve reached it. And has given clear instructions to what each of us should be doing.

Unfortunately, London is a little further ahead than the rest of the UK, but given the cosmopolitan population in London it’s hardly surprising. I think most of us realise that In all areas of the UK the numbers of new victims and deaths will continue to rise each day

It can’t be stopped but right now the plan is to slow it down.
Thank you for joining the challenge, Jim, take care of yourself 🙂

  3. It’s a frightening time both for health and economics. Most of us can’t go on without a paycheck if businesses shut down. How can this possibly go on? Protect us from a virus and no one can pay rent or buy groceries in a few months?

    1. My only income is Social Security and I don’t think that will be affected, but I do feel bad for everyone who is shut out of work. I heard that unemployment numbers are skyrocketing and people get used to their regular checks, not the limited UE funds which are barely enough to scrape by on. I hope that everything works out for you Paula.

  4. The elbow bump has been deemed unsafe due to the close proximity it brings two people together to offer the unorthodox greeting. Another good reason is the medical advice offered : sneeze into your elbow to muffle your germs. If both parties have done this act recently then all is lost. Good article though.

  5. Reblogged this on THE MAIN AISLE (c) 2020 and commented:
Donald Trump is a clueless president who at times appears to suffer from an intermittent loss of reasoning. The world at this time of crisis needs leaders attuned to the situation on a global scale. Trump is a fool lacking credibility. This article emphasizes the importance of responsible leadership. An informative read. – gc

      1. This IS like living in wartime and, sadly, we have a leader who is more concerned with his image than with the welfare of the citizens of the country he is supposed to be leading.

  6. Ah, the early days of an aerobic dancing craze. Good times. Mental health advisors are recommending, now, to keep moving even while cooped up.

  7. You guys need to lay off Bernie. Both he and Dementia Joe have said that they would support the other whichever one gets the nomination. If you had watched the debates the other night you would have heard both say it.

    1. I like Bernie as a person, but I think his ideas are crazy and I don’t want him as the next president. I would accept him over Trump, but many of the other Bernie supporters will probably break ranks from the Democratic party and we may end up with Trump again because of that.

      1. I don’t want to get into a political back and forth with you, but Bernie’s followers will definitely back Biden if Bernie endorses Biden, which is what he said he would do if Biden wins the nomination. This is a very different situation than 2016 when the nomination was stolen from him by the dirty dealings of the DNC. I’d really like to know which ideas of Bernie’s that you think are crazy, but it really doesn’t matter. If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination we will continue our descent into extinction, just maybe a little slower than if King Joffrey were to be reelected.
