Sweet Dreams

I wonder how many parents have said, “He is such a good baby when he is sleeping.”  Being a parent is a learning experience as you may never know for sure if you are supposed to rock the cradle, or play some soothing music to get your kid to sleep.  Hamlet uttered, “To sleep – perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub”, when he was contemplating suicide.  Death is such a permanent solution to get rid of all of your troubles and end your suffering, there has to be a better way.

I feel that everyone should be able to find a song that fits the prompt Dream/Lullaby/Sleep.  Try to find a song that fits the prompt, then write your post and please be patient, and wait for me to approve your pingbacks, or you can just place your link in the comments section.  I got stuck with the rules when I took over this challenge from Helen, but I never liked the first rule, so if you choose to use a song that does not fit the prompt, then please explain why you are doing this.  This challenge is very flexible and it allows everyone to make suggestions for future prompts, so if you feel adamant about using a certain song, then please suggest a prompt that will fit it.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not. If it does not fit, then please explain why you chose this song.
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
  • Ping back to this post will eventually work, as long as you are being patient, but you can also place your link in the comments if you don’t like to wait.
  • Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
  • Feel free to suggest future prompts.
  • Have fun and enjoy the music.

I am writing about the song ‘Sweet Baby James’ by James Taylor this week. Next week I will write about ‘Me And My Uncle’ by John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas.  The upcoming prompts will be:
September 1, 2019 – Cowboy/Gun/Hat/Horse/Western
September 8, 2019 – Bird/Fly/Sky/Wing
September 15, 2019 – Floor/House/Roof/Walls
September 22, 2019 – Clothing/Hat/Pants/Scarf/Shirt/Shoes/Tie

  1. I used to sing “Sweet Baby James” to my kids at bedtime. Sang it to my granddaughter recently. I should probably sing it to myself when I have trouble sleeping and imagine my favorite colors – those deep greens and blues.
