Sleeping All Alone

I’ve been tagged by Paula of Light Motifs II for a fun new game, which is called Borrow the Lyrics Challenge.

Rules:

  1. You need to choose a verse from a song and use it in an original poem or story.
  2. You must include the name of the song and the singer at the end or beginning.
  3. You need to challenge someone else and invent ONE rule they need to follow.
  4. You must credit the person who started this challenge (a.k.a. PJ – I’m sorry for the inconvenience) and the person who challenged you, which was Paula.
  5. You must include the rules of this challenge.
  6. Paula included her extra rule being that the song that I choose must include the word kiss in it.

The song that I chose ‘Miss You’ is by the Rolling Stones which reached #3 in the UK and charted #1 in the US.  It was written by Jagger and Richards and sung by Mick on their 1978 album Some Girls.  The lyrics were seemingly inspired by Mick Jagger’s deteriorating relationship with his wife, Bianca.  The verse I selected for my poem is sleeping all alone and I will challenge Fandango with a new rule that the song he uses must be from 1971.

I am sleeping all alone, because she dumped me.  There is no charge on my phone, poor, poor pitiful me.  What is a guy to do, I am tired of just sitting here, as I need some action.  There were some nice looking Puerto Rican girls in the Burger King, but they are probably way to young for me.  Hot, yes, real hot, but they would probably kill me.  My body is not what it used to be, but I guess I could always pop one of those blue pills and just go for it.

Looks like I will be sleeping all alone, because she is never coming home, since I told her that her ass is fat.  Hey some girls like that, how was I supposed to know the she would take offense, but on second thought I should learn to choose my words better.  It is odd how long I can sleep not that I am all by myself.   The days of making sweet love are gone and now I feel alone and insecure.  I never realized that I needed anyone.

I’ve been holding out so long
I’ve been sleeping all alone
Lord I miss you
I’ve been hanging on the phone
I’ve been sleeping all alone
I want to kiss you

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh

Well, I’ve been haunted in my sleep
You’ve been starring in my dreams
Lord I miss you
I’ve been waiting in the hall
Been waiting on your call
When the phone rings
It’s just some friends of mine that say,

“Hey, what’s the matter man?
We’re gonna come around at twelve
With some Puerto Rican girls that are just dyin’ to meet you.
We’re gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, let’s go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to”

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

Oh everybody waits so long
Oh baby why you wait so long
Won’t you come on! Come on!

I’ve been walking in Central Park
Singing after dark
People think I’m crazy
I’ve been stumbling on my feet
Shuffling through the street
Asking people, “What’s the matter with you boy?”
Sometimes I want to say to myself
Sometimes I say

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh

I won’t miss you child
I guess I’m lying to myself
It’s just you and no one else
Lord I won’t miss you child
You’ve been blotting out my mind
Fooling on my time
No, I won’t miss you, baby, yeah
Lord, I miss you child

Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah
Lord, I miss you child
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah
Lord, I miss you child
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah aaah
Aaah aaah aaah aaah

    1. I run two different music challenges her on WordPress, and the most popular one is tomorrow and it is called Song Lyric Sunday. I give out a theme and participants select a song to match it. Tomorrow the theme is Haunted/Magic/Mystery/Supernatural/Trick and you are welcome to enter with your song if you like. I will also enter with the song ‘Barracuda’ by Heart.
