Guest Host

I am honored to take over as the guest host for SLS Helen Vahdati’s This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time Song Lyric Sunday, while she is recovering. It is late, so let’s get to the prompt which is “doctor/health/medicine”.  I am not sure how this will work, but if you create a pingback to this post, I will read your blog.  Feel free to suggest future prompts.

      1. It’s called taking initiative, Jim, and it is appreciated 🙂 I came home from karaoke — audience only! — around 1:30 a.m. last night and didn’t see the prompt and so had given up the thought of finding a song. This morning I wake up and see this. Thanks for brightening the day 🙂

        1. Thanks Li. Fandango asked me why I was not hosting a prompt challenge and I told him that if I did it would be something like SLS and when I saw Helen’s Goodbye post today, I jumped on it. I forgot to post the rules, which I will do next week, but most bloggers are already familiar with what to do, so it is working out. I am missing some of the football as this does take up a lot of time, but it it is also very enjoyable.

  1. Thank you for continuing the challenge, Jim. After reading Helen’s post, you were the first person to come to mind. 😊

I have backup songs in the queue so I guess I’ll just be double posting this week! 😂😂😂

  2. Reblogged this on This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time and commented:
I am so grateful to Jim and to the others who offered to step in while I take a much-needed break. I am going to reblog his theme post, but please go to his site next week and until further notice for your SLS themes. I know others have offered, but Jim was the first one to offer and put up a post. Hopefully Jim will reach out if he needs more help going forward.

Thank you again for all the love, everyone. It is truly appreciated!

  3. I am so grateful you are continuing this amazing weekly music sharing that Helen started. I don’t have a blog of my own, but I love sharing and hearing new music every week, so here is my post for this week, coming from my son. It was the first song he thought of. Vital Signs by Rush
Written by Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart

    Unstable condition
    A symptom of life
    In mental and environmental change

    Atmospheric disturbance
    The feverish flux
    Of human interface
    And interchange

    The impulse is pure
    Sometimes our circuits get shorted
    By external interference

    Signals get crossed
    And the balance distorted
    By internal incoherence

    A tired mind become a shape-shifter
    Everybody need a mood lifter
    Everybody need reverse polarity

    Everybody got mixed feelings
About the function and the form
    Everybody got to deviate
    From the norm

    An ounce of perception
    A pound of obscure
    Process information
    At half-speed

    Pause
    Rewind, replay
    Warm memory chip
    Random sample
    Hold the one you need

    Leave out the fiction
    The fact is
    This friction
Will only be worn by persistence

    Leave out conditions
    Courageous convictions
Will drag the dream into existence

    A tired mind become a shape-shifter
    Everybody need a soft filter
    Everybody need reverse polarity

    Everybody got mixed feelings
About the function and the form
    Everybody got to elevate
    From the norm…

    Everybody got mixed feelings
    Everybody got mixed feelings
Everybody got to deviate from the norm
Everybody got to deviate from the norm
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Everybody got to escalate from the norm
    Everybody got to elevate
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Everybody got to deviate from the norm

    1. I am familiar with this song and I love the singer’s voice, although I do not know all that much about Rush. You should start a blog or have your son do it, but if you want to continue posting like this, I am fine with that. Thanks for contributing your song.

      1. Me neither and I have to do all of these approvals today as I have my blog set up that way for the first comments that people make to my posts, sO I can’t look into this and get to all of the other posts.

  4. Thanks for stepping up to the plate, Jim! You’re the perfect guy for it, too. It would have been a shame not to have Song Lyric Sunday to look foward to every week. For the past couple months, I think responding to SLS is the only blogging I’ve done. Going to try to post one later tonight, now that I know the theme.
